Who's having more fun?

Not sure who is having more fun here - my 18-month old great-granddaughter or her aunt, my 22-year old granddaughter! My daughter held off on some of her first granddaughter's Christmas presents till we arrived a couple of days after Christmas. We were able to see all of her children (two daughters and a son) as we made our way back home.

As French photojournalist Alain Keler once said, “What remains of our memory if not a photograph?” To me, that quote says it all. While I shot a fair amount of images of my family while they were growing up, I have always felt I did not take enough photos of them. Capturing these images when I have a chance will, hopefully, bring a smile to my children and their children after I am gone.

Funny Face

Back when I was working for a small weekly newspaper, I often got lucky in capturing a unique, even funny, expression. Today, while shooting mainly my family, I still get lucky in capturing an expression, funny or embarrassing.
This is one of those images. My son and his family came over last week for dinner the week before Christmas. (Christmas is a busy day especially for him as he always has to spend a good portion of the day at work.) We were finishing up the meal and I started taking photos with my X100S with the WCL lens attached. This one is of my son, his son and his youngest daughter. His daughter's expression is one I did not see when I hit the shutter.
But the camera misses nothing so she gets caught all puckered up in this potentially embarrassing image as her brother mugs for the camera.

The more I use the WCL (giving a 28mm field of view) the more I like it. Still would probably like to get another X100S and permanently mount the TCL (50mm FOV) on it. That would give me a 'three lens' (28mm,35mm, & 50mm) setup.

Street

Just a simple street scene from our visit to Antigua. This was down close to a market area that had not really opened up at the time. What initially caught my eye was the dog lying in the street. I had the wide conversion lens attached to my X100S giving a 28mm field of view.

Sea day!

A shot of the aft pool on Carnival Breeze on the 14th day of a 14-day cruise. Everyone was getting their last rays before heading home to winter in most places.
