OPEN WIDE!

During a recent cruise stop in Curacao, my walkabout brought me to a long row building that appeared at one time to have been home to several businesses. Sadly, it was now abandoned but the long row had attracted the attention of graffiti artists. Some were quite attractive such as this one. I thought the use of the glass window in the door as an open mouth was a nice touch.

Something in this image

As I look at this shot, I try to figure out what prompted me to hit the shutter. In the end, I think it is the differences that catch my eye.

The first thing that catches my eye is the little girl in the middle who is looking at the boy playing on the device. I wonder what she is thinking.
Then I wonder what the little girl in the background is looking at. What has capture her attention?
While editing the image, I cropped the left side slightly so the "mom" anchors the left side to go along with the blurred lady just coming into the frame on the right.
Toss in a perceived diagonal line with the heads of the three kids which helps to keep the eye moving through the image.
Granted it is just a simple snap of a group of people but, for me, the image works and creates some interest.

A room with a view

I have been a little quiet lately but here goes with another series of image from our latest cruise. For the past year or so, I have restricted my gear to just my Fuji X100S with the TCL-X100 lens attached. This setup gives me a 50mm (or "normal") field of view. It has taken me this long to really start feeling comfortable with just a normal lens after several decades of zooms.
This particular shot was taken in Grand Turk as our ship sat alongside the Carnival Horizon. I first noticed the woman sunning and moved to align myself for a vertical shot. After a couple of shots, I noticed the guy on his balcony seeming to be eyeing her and thought "why not?"

What originally attracted me to her was the fact she was reading an actual book and not thumbing through some piece of electronics.
