Window Shoppers

Found these two older gentlemen eyeballing something in a jewelry shop on the town square. Made sure the sign was in the image to help with the story-telling effort of the image. This is another possible for the "Pairs" theme I am working on.

Crossing

Another for the "Pairs" theme. I like the way the shadows fall off the two men and the way the hydrant kinda balances the overall composition.

Handtrucks-in-waiting

Another for the "Pairs" theme on the town square. Deliveries as noted earlier occur as eateries are preparing to open, usually around 9:30 to 10 AM. I had just arrived on the square this morning and saw the pair of handtrucks waiting to be loaded. In keeping with trying to find normal activity that goes unnoticed, I thought this was perfect. I took the shot with my X100S as I wanted to show a lot of the surroundings. Then I took a few with my X-E1 and Nikkor 1,8/85mm lens. In the end, the Nikkor image was too tight and the X100S was too loose. So I cropped the X100S image for the effect I thought worked best.

I also used Adobe Camera Raw to darken the shadows a little and brighten the highlights a little to give a stronger contrast to the image. For me, it works well.

Corona delivery

Just the usual delivery men on the Square at mid-morning. There are usually trucks from several different suppliers of food and drink on the Square almost every morning as eateries prepare for the day's customers.

As I have mentioned, this is a happening that is very normal on the Square and most people would not give a second glance.

Signed invoice

Still working on getting the normal everyday occurrence for my "Pairs" theme on the Square. Here is an action that goes on every morning in just about every eatery on the square. Deliveries are made, checked for accuracy, and signed for by the manager/owner. This is something that I know most people would not give a second glance but it happens almost every day. This is a good example of what I am trying to discover on the square.

Me and my shadow

Just a fun image I wanted to play with that I got down on the Square this week. I liked the long shadow on the pavement. In retrospect, I wish I had a way to get a higher POV on the square. Maybe I can find some shop owner that will let me on the roof for a while. I think this image could be improved with a higher POV.
As my wife noted on seeing the image, this is another possible for the "Pairs" theme.

Discussion and coffee

Had planned on going to the square today but we are under a severe weather threat and most businesses on the square have shutdown. This image is from a couple of weeks ago as this couple had a discussion that seemed a little intense. The county courthouse is not far away so many lawyers and clients come here. Don't know if that was the case here. While this is a possible for the "Pairs" theme, it really doesn't sing to me.

Got lucky!!

Another possible for the "Pairs" theme that I am still working on for the town square. Got this one when roaming the square during a one-night arts festival at all the local shops and restaurants. Even had an opportunity to talk with a couple of photographers that were in the show. One was an older gentleman like myself who has his work done on glass. A little reflective for my tastes but still a good series of images from him. His day job is as a IT consultant.
The other photographer was a young man who had images from London and Paris and had even done a book on his Paris images. I liked his street work very much. As I thumbed through the book he had on display, I have the good fortune to meet the local newspaper photographer who has been on staff for a little over a year.
(This is the same newspaper I did a tryout for back in November 2015 just before this young lady was hired. I had already sold all my pro Nikon gear in favor of the lightweight Fuji X-System. All I had was a X100S for wide angle shots and a Fuji X-E1 with a Nikkor 1,8/85mm AFD lens. After shooting the game I was sent to (a high school football (that's American football), I told the publisher that I did not feel that my current gear would be a good match for professional newspaper work.)
I had not talked to any local photographers whose style/background matched up with mine in quite some time. It was fun to talk to the young man and the newspaper staffer whose styles more closely resemble my own.

About the image, my wife and I had been through several exhibits at this point (neither of the photographers as yet) when we approached an intersection. I thought I was paying more attention to the two women hoping they would look toward each other. When the lady on the left turned slightly, I hit the shutter. I was also fortunate to also capture the passing car almost perfectly. Sometimes I get lucky. This image was shot with the Fuji X100S, a camera I am still getting used to but enjoying more and more each time I take it out.
Oh, and on a side note, the car is a Dodge Neon very similar to one I used to own.
