Train graffitti

As I was headed to yet another doctor's appointment, my wife & I got caught at a railway crossing. As the train slowly moved backwards and forwards, I took out my X100S to grab a few shots of the graffitti on the railway cars to see if I could do anything with them. Well, here is my first attempt. I cropped the image, apply a horizontal lens correction to correct for my perspective and converted the image to black&white with Silver Efex.

Hanging the exhibition

Finally was able to get moving a little bit better lately and took a short walk up to a local coffeeshop while my wife was at her writers' club meeting. Took only the Fuji X100S with me as I try to get a better handle on how to "see" photographically with a single prime lens. Even after almost three years with the X100S and a couple of primes for the X-E1 (35mm and a Nikkor 85mm), I find myself still seeing images that I am not in position to get because the lenses are either too wide and too long. But as they say, "practice, Practice, PRACTICE!" So I will continue to plug along.
While sitting in the coffeeshop, I watched a gentleman hanging photos in the shop for a local photographer. I have often thought about approaching the owners about my work to see if they are interested but the work usually hung, either images or other art, makes me think my documentary-style work would not be interesting enough. But I did capture one image that I felt was worth keeping as the hanger took a closer look at his efforts.

SWEAT!

Dancing is HARD WORK! Caught this belly dancer performing her routine back in 2008 just after leaving my day job as a staff photographer. The paper was losing money (like most small newspapers) as the economy tanked.

Sleepers

The last time I traveled to England (2006) was the first time my wife and I traveled there in springtime. I ran across a group of students who were spending the day in London and were gathered in Leicester Square. They seemed to be quite tired from all their sightseeing.
This was shot with a Nikon D2H and Nikkor 3,5-5,6/18.200mm superzoom. While the lens never got stellar reviews I found it suited my purposes quite well by allowing me to crop to the framing I wanted.

While the D2H is only a 4.2MP APS-C camera, I have found it to be quite up to the tasks I used it for both professionally and personally. I have even considered selling my Fuji gear and going back to a D2H and an original 18-200mm lens. I have had images from that setup used on billboards without a problem.
