Surf's Up!

Taken around the turn of the century in northwest Florida when I was freelancing for a small weekly newspaper. Shot with an Olympus OM-4T and Tokina 2,8/80-200mm zoom on Tri-X film and developed in D-76 1:1. I just kinda like the composition.

The pianist

A little manipulation in CS6 to darken the shadows and lighten the highlights of the image slightly. Taken on a cruise in 2007 with a Nikon D2H and Nikkor 18-200mm. This image was taken handheld (ISO200 @1/20 second @ 95mm) but I was sitting to help stabilize myself.

Smokin'

Due to my current health issues, I am restricted from driving and don't really want to bother my chauffeur (my wife) with my obsession. So I am going through my stockpile of images taken over almost 4 decades to show some the images that never made to print.
This one was taken at a new steakhouse in Miramar, FL, but wasn't selected for that week's edition at the newspaper. But I have always liked it.

One of the reasons I like it is because it shows the capabilities of the Nikons I was using at the time. This image was shot with a D2Hs in RAW, processed in Photoshop, Nik Dfine and Silver Efex Pro II. For newsprint, I found that my D2H bodies, when exposed correctly, did a great job. I even had one image from a D2H that was cropped in the middle and blown up to roughly six feet by 12 feet for use on a billboard. When I retired, I really hated selling the cameras and lenses but it was just more weight than I wanted to carry.

Watcher

Been a while since my last post due to some medical issues. 2015 was not the best year health-wise. We will see what 2016 has to show.
But, be that as it may, I thought I would post an older photo from a Carnival cruise I took my wife on back in 1980. Probably taken with an Olympus OM-2S but not sure about the lens. Shot on Kodacolor film and changed to monochrome in Silver Efex Pro 2.

I ran across this image when I was searching for images of my wife for the book I recently finished. I had never noticed the officer on the bridge above the passenger before and wondered if he was watching her.
