Pair on the Square

I have several themes I have been working on when going to the local town square. One of these themes is finding a pair of people that catch my eye. Sometimes the "pair" has only one live person involved and other times there are more than two people in the image but only two seem to have a connection. In the case of this image, there are only two people. The gentleman was on the phone making contact with someone he and (I assume) his wife were meeting for lunch.

As is the usual case, the images I am finding these days are mainly just ordinary people doing ordinary things and getting on in life.

Through the Looking Glass

Taken on a 4-day cruise earlier this year as the ship entered Freeport, Bahamas. Shot required perspective correction in CS6 which I think worked out fairly well. The ship had already past this ship docking station when I looked out the window so the correction was something I wanted to try to straighten out the lines. My hope was to make the image look like we were just passing the dock. I kinda like the way it turned out.

THEY'RE BAAAAAAAACK!

The local university is back in session as evidenced by this trio lining up at the local coffeeshop. Looking forward to some interesting photos in the upcoming months!

What caught my eye was the two guys patiently awaiting their turn but having similar posture and both with something on their heads. I am working on a series called "Pairs on the Square". Taken with a Fuji X-E1 and Nikkor 1,8/85mm AF-D lens. Processed in Silver Efex Pro 2 and Photoshop CS6.

SPARKLY!!

Taken in 1999 at a car show in Seaside, FL. I believe it was a Buick Roadmaster. Used an Olympus OM-4T and Tokina 24-70mm f2.6-2.8 lens (a heavy beast!) on Kodak Tri-X film at ASA400. Developed in D-76 1:1.

I miss the days of my Oly gear - light and reliable and one of the best metering systems I have every used.

Coffeeshop crowd

There is something about this photograph that keeps me coming back. As with any image, part of it is the overall composition but, in this case, this shot has a little more DOF than I usually have. For a good part of my photographic life, I have used wide open apertures to try and drive the viewer's eye to the subject I was most interested in. This is especially true for normal to tele focal lengths but not so much with wide angle focal lengths. As I look as some of the imagery of the documentary shooters that I most admire, the images usually have more DOF. So I am trying a different approach in my shooting these days to make sure that when I take a photograph, I take two so I have a short and long DOF to chose from.

FOR THE LOVE of BEER

Actually, the glass contains hard cider, my wife's beverage of choice. Taken at La Trattoria On the Square during lunch.

Empty waiting room, City Hall Avenue, Carrollton, GA, USA

I have walked by this area in the past and seen some locals sitting out front. Now as I look at this image, I realize I have been remiss in not taking a photograph of those folks. Well, I am still around after an overnight visit to the local hospital last Saturday and I hope to rectify the fact that I have not gotten an image of people at this location. Hope to do better as I still struggle to redefine my photographic endeavours.
